When Beauty Leads Us Home | 7 June 2026

Jo Sandhu explores the journey of worship, explaining that it begins with thanksgiving and praise but ultimately leads to surrender and a deeper relationship with God. She acknowledges that praise can be difficult during challenging times, yet encourages us to look beyond our circumstances and focus instead on God’s unchanging character and faithfulness.

Using the imagery of the Old Testament temple, Jo describes a spiritual progression through the gates of thanksgiving, the courts of praise, the altar of sacrifice, and finally into the Holy of Holies. At the altar, worshippers are invited to lay down their fears, hurts, pride, bitterness, and need for control, trusting God to transform what is surrendered into something beautiful.

Reflecting on the life of Jesus, Jo highlights how God’s beauty is often revealed in unexpected places. From Christ’s humble birth in a stable to the sacrifice of the cross, what appeared weak or painful became the greatest demonstration of love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Using the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold as an illustration, she explains that God restores broken lives, making them stronger and more valuable through His healing.

Drawing from her own testimony, Jo shares how God restored her after addiction, broken relationships, and personal failure, offering hope that no life is beyond redemption.

She reminds us that Jesus’ death and resurrection removed the barrier between humanity and God, giving everyone direct access to His presence. God is often encountered not in dramatic moments but in quiet stillness, just as Elijah heard Him in a gentle whisper. Jo encourages us to slow down, notice the beauty of creation, and let it draw them into gratitude, worship, surrender, and a deeper awareness of God’s presence and transforming love.
