Pastor David brings this morning’s message, based on Ephesians 5:15–21, encouraging us to live lives that are continually filled and led by the Holy Spirit. He explains that the Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force but God Himself, a person who speaks, teaches, comforts, convicts, leads and empowers His people.
The first mark of a Spirit-filled life, Pastor David explains, is a new song of worship. Worship is not simply about enjoying music but about declaring the truth of who God is, both to Him and to one another. Corporate worship strengthens those whose faith is weak, allowing the church to encourage one another through shared praise. True worship comes from the heart, even in times of sorrow or uncertainty, and continues to declare God’s goodness despite difficult circumstances.
Secondly, a Spirit-filled life develops a grateful heart. Gratitude is not pretending that suffering does not exist but recognising God’s faithfulness within it. Rather than focusing on what is missing, Pastor David encourages us to notice God’s daily provision, thank Him for His presence, and turn complaints into prayers. A thankful heart changes perspective and helps believers remain aware of God’s grace.
He highlights that the Holy Spirit shapes relationships through humility and mutual submission. Submission does not imply inferiority or excuse abuse, but reflects Christ’s example of love, service, and selflessness. Spirit-filled people listen well, accept correction, seek reconciliation, and place relationships above pride. The true test of spiritual maturity is often seen not during worship services but in everyday interactions with family, colleagues, and those who disagree with us.
