Pastor Chas Sandhu shares todays message focusing on understanding and navigating the winter seasons of life within the broader framework of spiritual seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Drawing from Ecclesiastes 3, he emphasises that every season has a purpose under God’s sovereignty, including difficult and seemingly unproductive times.
Winter can often feel cold, slow, and discouraging. Productivity may appear to stall, and spiritually it can resemble hardship, doubt, isolation, or a sense of distance from God. However, just as nature uses winter for survival and preparation, this season in a believer’s life is not wasted. Using vivid examples from trees and plants, he illustrates how roots deepen, energy is conserved, and unseen growth occurs beneath the surface. Similarly, spiritual winter is a time for strengthening faith, deepening reliance on God, and allowing Him to prune away what hinders growth.
Pastor Chas highlights that winter is part of God’s design, not a sign of His absence. Referencing biblical figures like Moses, Joseph, and the Israelites, he shows how seasons of waiting and hardship were actually times of preparation for greater purpose. These experiences teach believers to trust God even when He seems silent, reminding them that “the teacher is always silent during the test.”
He stresses that winter strips away self-reliance and calls us to depend fully on God. True, mature faith continues to pray, worship, and trust even without emotional encouragement or immediate answers. Rather than asking “Why me?”, we should ask, “What is God teaching me?”
He concludes with practical guidance: embrace the season, deepen spiritual practices, seek God in quiet moments, trust His presence, and hold onto hope. Winter is temporary, spring will come. Ultimately, these seasons are meant to grow deeper, stronger faith, reminding us that God is always at work, even when unseen.
