Pastor David brings the message today from Joshua 3 about stepping into the unknown. He highlights that God has a purpose, future, and hope for each of us. In this passage, the Israelites are standing at the Jordan River, preparing to enter the Promised Land. After years in the wilderness, they are stepping into a new season, one they have never encountered before.
He highlights three key principles for navigating uncharted territory:
- Seek God’s Presence and Direction – Before making any major decision, we must be certain of God’s guidance. Through prayer, fasting, and seeking confirmation, we align ourselves with His will rather than acting on impulse. The Israelites followed the Ark of the Covenant, symbolising God’s presence leading them. Likewise, we should never move forward without first ensuring God is directing our steps.
- Embrace New Paths with Faith – The Israelites had to trust God’s plan as they moved from familiar ground into the unknown. Similarly, stepping into new jobs, relationships, or ministries can feel overwhelming, but God promises to guide us. As a church, trying new outreach methods and embracing change is necessary for growth. Faith means trusting the One leading us, even when we don’t understand the journey.
- Let God Defend and Strengthen You – Facing opposition is inevitable, but God is our protector. Rather than relying on our own strength, we should depend on Him. When we try to solve problems our way, we often make them worse. God fights for us, ensuring we walk in His victory.
Pastor David encourages prompt obedience—when God calls, we shouldn’t procrastinate. He also explains how we need courage, balanced with gentleness. He reminds us to never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. Faith requires waiting and trusting. He concludes his message by urging us to be ready for a great move of God.
