In this message, Pastor Chas speaks about the importance of reigniting spiritual momentum in our Christian walk by staying connected to Jesus. He encourages us to focus on Jesus as the source of all we need, rather than simply seeking answers from the Bible for personal gain. He shares that if we feel stuck or lack passion, it’s crucial to reconnect with the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to regain a sense of purpose and fire.
Chas reflects on the challenges we face when life becomes an uphill struggle, using examples from everyday life, like surfers catching waves and motorcyclists leaning into curves to illustrate how momentum works. He then asks how we can regain our spiritual momentum when life becomes difficult, our emotions falter, and our fire fades.
He turns to the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, who had lost hope after Jesus’ death. Jesus appears to them, but they don’t recognise him at first. As they walk together, he rekindles their faith by explaining the scriptures. When they finally recognise him, their hearts are reignited, and they are filled with new energy and purpose. Drawing from Paul’s advice to Timothy, he reminds us of our responsibility to “fan the flame” of their faith through engagement with scripture and prayer. Growth doesn’t happen by chance but through active participation in God’s process of transformation.
Chas also warns against becoming spiritually stagnant, as it can lead to frustration and disappointment. He urges us to not lose our first love for Jesus and reminds us that God never leaves, even when we feel distant. Just like runners in a race, we must keep our pace without distractions, maintaining momentum in our faith journey.
Lastly, he encourages us to share our faith, taking every opportunity to speak about what Christ has done in our lives. With Jesus guiding us, he believes that the church will grow and thrive, as every believer is equipped for such a time as this.
