God with Us | 30 November 2025

Pastor Phil Pye shares his second message today, celebrating the church’s growth, its younger generation stepping up, and the solid foundations laid by previous leaders. He honours the past while urging us not to “camp” there. Instead, he reminds us of Isaiah’s words: “See, I am doing a new thing.” God’s character doesn’t change, but God often brings fresh seasons, new directions, and unexpected opportunities.

He encourages us to stay open to the prophetic—neither gullible nor cynical. Personal prophetic words should always be weighed carefully, yet Scripture calls believers to desire the gift of prophecy because it opens hearts and stirs faith.

He reminds us that God often renews His commission throughout history. Just as God repeatedly placed His hand on people and sent them out to lead His flock, Pastor Phil believes God is once again renewing His call over the church today. He encourages us to see ourselves as commissioned to bring the good news of God’s kingdom to South Lincolnshire and beyond, trusting that God will help us as we move forward.

Pastor Phil then focuses on the encouragement God gave His people in Joshua’s day, when they stood at the edge of the Jordan River facing what felt impossible. Faith, he explains, doesn’t wait for certainty—it takes the next step in obedience. God gave the Israelites five key promises: possession of the land, expansion of territory, vindication against opposition, His unfailing presence, and the inspiration to be strong and courageous. These same promises remind us today that God is with us in every new season, even when the journey feels overwhelming.

He goes on to say that when God speaks, a response is always required. For the Israelites—and for the church now—that response involves resilience and obedience. Pastor Phil uses the image of a squash ball to describe resilience: even when pressure squeezes us out of shape, God restores us to who we’re meant to be. Obedience comes through holding firmly to God’s Word, letting Scripture shape culture rather than the other way around. He celebrates the rising generation of leaders who are confidently and humbly committed to staying rooted in God’s truth.

Finally, Pastor Phil highlights the results that follow: God promises prosperity—not in terms of wealth, but in fulfilling the goal God has set—and success marked by fruitfulness, faithfulness, character, devotion, and growth.

He closes with Joshua’s timeless call: Be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
