In this sermon, Pastor Chas reminds us that Christmas centres on celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the profound love of God for humanity.
He explores various types of love mentioned in the Bible, focusing on “Agape” love, which represents God’s selfless, sacrificial love for humanity. This love, he explains, is vividly exemplified in John 3:16, where God sent Jesus to save humanity from sin. Chas underscores that God’s love is not based on our actions or worthiness; it is a gift that transforms and restores us when we accept it. He stresses that love is an action, not merely a feeling, calling us to demonstrate this love in our relationships, workplaces, and communities.
Sharing passages from Corinthians and Romans, he describes the characteristics of divine love: patient, kind, enduring, and free from pride or selfishness. He emphasises that nothing can separate us from God’s love, except our own choices, and encourages repentance as a way to reconnect with God’s grace.
Chas also celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, calling it the ultimate testament to God’s power and love. Unlike earthly leaders who remain in their tombs, Jesus lives, offering hope and eternal life. He concludes by encouraging us to embrace and share this abundant, lavish love, which reflects God’s heart for humanity. Quoting Saint Augustine and Rick Warren, he reinforces that God’s love is infinite, personal, and transformative—a love that is meant to be received and extended to others.
