Good morning, Lighthouse Church family! We hope you all enjoyed the inspiring service last Sunday, as we continued our series on the life of Elijah, focusing on the showdown with the prophets of Baal. Pastor Marian brought us a powerful message that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.
The service began with a spirited worship session, reminding us of the greatness of our God and the transformative power of His love. Songs like “Way Maker” and “How Great Is Our God” set the tone, lifting our hearts in praise and preparing us to receive the Word.
Pastor Marian took us through the dramatic narrative found in 1 Kings 18, where Elijah challenges the prophets of Baal. Emphasising the themes of faith, courage, and the sovereignty of God, Pastor Marian unpacked the story with eloquence and depth. She highlighted how Elijah’s unwavering faith and obedience to God’s instructions led to a miraculous demonstration of God’s power, consuming the water-soaked altar with divine fire.
This story serves as a powerful reminder that, even in times of spiritual darkness and societal idolatry, God’s voice remains strong and clear. Elijah’s confrontation with Ahab and the false prophets is a call for us to stand firm in our faith, reject the idols of our modern world, and wholeheartedly commit to the Lord.
We were also reminded of the importance of true worship and the necessity of a pure heart before God. Pastor Marian encouraged us to reflect on our lives, to identify any distractions or idols that may have taken precedence over our relationship with God, and to renew our commitment to Him.
As we look forward to the week ahead, let’s carry the lessons from Elijah’s story with us, remaining steadfast in our faith and courageous in our daily walk with God.
Thank you, Pastor Marian, for such an enriching sermon, and thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope to see you this Wednesday for a special prayer meeting as we seek God’s favour in our upcoming council meeting regarding the new building.
