In today’s message, Pastor David unpacks the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch from Acts 8, highlighting how God’s timing is perfect. Philip obeyed the Spirit’s prompting, approached an Ethiopian official reading Isaiah, and shared the gospel. That encounter led to the official’s baptism and spiritual transformation.
Philip met the eunuch just as he had questions — a reminder that we don’t need to force doors open in life. Instead, we can trust that God will move when the time is right.
Pastor David draws out three lessons from Philip’s story: first, that obedience to God leads to divine appointments; second, that such obedience brings Holy Spirit empowerment; and third, that scripture can lead to real, lasting transformation. He challenges us to stop viewing life’s blessings as coincidences and start seeing them as God’s intentional work.
He also emphasises the role of the Holy Spirit. Philip was guided by the Spirit, even when he didn’t know the outcome. Like him, we’re encouraged to step out in faith and speak when prompted, knowing God will give us the words.
Pastor David encourages us not to underestimate ourselves. God can use anyone — we just need to be available, even when we’re feeling dry or uncertain. As Craig Groeschel says, “You don’t need great faith, just faith in a great God.”
He challenges us: when was the last time we shared our faith? We’re not just meant to celebrate one victory and stop, we’re called to keep moving, keep witnessing, and keep trusting.
